RUFUS - President John McCallum's cancer has returned, just shy of two years since he entered remission. The President has yet to determine if he will undergo chemotherapy and if so, has yet to determine if he will carry out his remaining term or give up the Presidency to Vice President Travis Loretti who is more than ready to take over the role as acting President. The President beat his 2022 cancer diagnosis, and had entered remission in early August 24, 2022. The cancer had been diminished by a barrage of chemotherapy drugs. He was clear of any cancer cells by August 23, 2022 around 11:39 PM and officially announced that he was in remission on August 24, 2022, later in the day. McCallum had been cancer free for the last year and half before his announcement that he had cancer on March 24, 2024.
In a brief statement issued by the Nationalist House, it said: "While President McCallum's diagnosis today is a subtle reminder how human he is, he wants to ensure that his last 8 months in office will be full of focus and work, and has promised to remain President even throughout his fight against this new cancer. He will continue to respond to correspondence and conduct business as usual." President McCallum has not yet published any further information than the statement he gave the Nationalist House press office to publish. His doctors say they will conduct extensive testing to see what form of cancer it is and his best treatment options. The President did say he would consider Chemo at a later time, but would not make that determination right now. President McCallum has 8 months left in his Presidency, and his commitment to finishing the very job he was projected into has been the top of his mind according to his wife, First Honorable Lady Amber McCallum. She says that he is worried he will not be able to finish all of the work he wants to get done before leaving office.
