UNITED KINGDOM - The Buckingham Palace recently released a statement announcing the passing of the United Kingdom's longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II this afternoon. A statement by the Buckingham Palace stated the following, "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and return to London tomorrow." Members of the Royal family were with the Queen when she passed and a 10 day mourning period has begun. She was 96 at the time of her death. She will be remembered as a pioneer of kindness, service and duty.
"President McCallum is deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II," said Press Secretary Lynn Rodgers. "He took a great liking to the Queen, and the Queen." President McCallum is expected to order flags at half mass sometime today or tomorrow. He is also expected to fly to England and attend her Majesty's funeral, whenever it is announced by the Royal Family and Buckingham Palace.
